Courage & Renewal - North Texas Facilitators are prepared by the national Center for Courage & Renewal that is charged with the development of the Courage & Renewal movement. There are currently more than 160 facilitators across the country.
Chick Deegan
Chick is the program manager for Employee Spiritual Support, Baylor Health Care System. Her entire career has been in healthcare, first (and always) as a nurse, as an educator, then as an internal consultant in Henry Ford Health System for leadership development and organizational renewal and transformation.
Ann Faulkner
Ann has been learning from students and colleagues through classroom teaching and professional development facilitation for more than thirty years. She has served as a co-director and a consultant to the Center for Renewal and Wholeness in Higher Education. She facilitates several types of retreats regularly.
David Henderson
David is an assistant professor at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he teaches graduate educational leadership classes. He is the former co-founder of Montana Courage to Teach and has led retreats in Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming and Texas.
Cynthia T. Johnson, LMSW-AP
Cindy is the Founder of Courage & Renewal – North Texas and the lead CRNT facilitator for
local and national Circles of Trust ® retreats. Prior to her position with
Courage & Renewal - North Texas (CRNT), she was an executive with several nonprofit
organizations in Tarrant County.
Roland Johnson, J.D.
Roland is a lawyer with Harris, Finley & Bogle, P.C. where he was managing shareholder for 19 years. He is president elect of the State Bar of Texas
Sue Jones, Ph.D.
Sue is a professor of psychology, cultural studies, and peace studies at Richland College of the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD). She is also the director of the Center for Renewal & Wholeness in Higher Education (www.richlandcollege.edu/crwhe) which is headquartered at Richland College and supported by the DCCCD and the League for Innovation in the Community College.
Theresa Kauffman, M.A.T.
Theresa is principal at Hill School of Fort Worth, a school for children with learning differences. She has taught at all levels, with most of her experience with middle school students. She also consults for law-related education and special education programs.
Twyla Miranda, Ph.D.
Twyla serves as full professor in the School of Education at Texas Wesleyan University, teaching primarily in the master's and doctoral programs. Her research agenda centers around reading preferences of gifted and talented middle schoolers and social processes in diverse classrooms. She recently studied teacher education in India on a Fulbright Scholarship, and has authored several children's books.
Donald Porter
Donald is a teacher at Fort Worth Academy. Teaching is a second career for Donald; he is a former tax accountant and business manager.
Elaine Sullivan
Elaine is an educator and counselor who is presently a consultant working directly with the Center for Renewal and Wholeness in Higher Education. She has trained and mentored facilitators presented at national conferences and facilitated many retreats. Her life work, begun in the early seventies, has focused on writing and sharing autobiographies. She is on the Board of Directors for the National Wellness Institute where she consults on integrating mind, body and spirit practices into daily life.
Estrus Tucker
Estrus is an independent consultant and keynote speaker specializing in small and large group facilitation, designing and leading conversations and retreats across the country in support of personal, professional and community renewal, transformation, healing and reconciliation. He is President of Liberation Community, Inc., a social justice network, chairs the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission & is Past Pres./Moderator of the Minority Leaders & Citizens Council.
Patti Gearhart Turner, J.D., LMSW-AP
Patti is the assistant dean of Student Affairs at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law where she also administers the Equal Justice Program, furthering pro bono work by law students in the community. With a background in law and social work, she has been active in community work and advocacy for the last 25 years.

Donna Bearden
Donna is a photographer, artist, and writer. She has had careers in public information, curriculum development, and educational research, and is now following her passion of combining photography with inspirational writing. Her motto in life is “Unleash Potential.”
John Milemon
John is an Assistant Dean in the Center for Tutoring and Learning Connections at Richland College in Dallas, Texas. He has over 15 years experience in teaching, tutoring and counseling a diverse group of students. Mr. Millemon is also a member of a team which volunteers several hours each week at a downtown Dallas shelter for homeless families with children. He has also experience teaching and counseling the homeless at Central Dallas Ministries, tutoring business courses at Richland College, and is currently teaching business and human development.
