CIW Facilitation Preparation Program
We invite you to consider an exciting opportunity! Courage & Renewal – North Texas has developed a new equipping opportunity “Courage in the Workplace (CIW) Facilitator Preparation Program”. We know that as alum of one of our Courage to Teach ®, Courage to Lead ®, or Circles of Trust ® retreat series, you know the benefit of “courage work” and you have had a deep experience with the renewal opportunities that we offer. Who better to consider as a CIW facilitator?
Introducing Courage in the Workplace (CIW)
Courage in the Workplace is the name we use to describe the custom crafted retreats, renewal offerings and consultations we have provided to schools, organizations, institutions and businesses on a contract basis. Each CIW consulting opportunity happens as a result of a series of conversations between a facilitator and the leadership team of the organization. Through years of experience, we learned our clients find some topics more relevant than others. Listed below are those topics, eight in all referred to as “Tools for Individual and Organizational Health and Effectiveness”:
- Leadership with Integrity: Walking the Talk
- Creating Healthy and Effective Organizations
- Transforming Time
- Managing Complexity: “Both/And” Approach for Organizations
- Change: Opportunity in the Inevitable
- Taking Time for Trust
- Mission Alignment
- Restoring the Heart of Service
During the last year, we have been busy developing a framework for offering the most requested topics from the list above. Our hope is that this framework will make it easier to describe what a client will receive, enable additional facilitators to offer the work, and increase the consistency of the experience for clients.
CRNT Invites Alumni to apply to our CIW Facilitator Preparation Program
We have decided to focus on increasing the consulting aspect of our work - Courage in the Workplace programs - as a way to share the benefits of “courage work” with more people. And we want you to be a part of it! The CIW Facilitator Preparation Program invites you to apply for the chance to join a learning community of 10 to 15 alums to help CRNT expand further into a growing consulting market. This preparation program consist of 6 full day retreats from 8:30 – 5:30 pm for the purpose of
- Developing /refining six of the eight “Tools for Individual and Organizational Health and Effectiveness” modules we offer organizations,
- Training you in the skills, techniques and framework of CIW so you can offer them to organizations and communities of your choice, and
- Participating in the community of practice – a peer mentoring, learning, resource sharing group of facilitators.
Important Information
Agreement to be a CIW Facilitator has the following expectations for the working relationship with CRNT:

Approach to CIW Facilitator Preparation
The design for the first round of CIW Facilitator Preparation is that it be a peer learning community. There are two hoped for outcomes of this approach:
- Six out of eight modules will be developed/refined by the learning community.
- Ten to fifteen facilitators will be prepared to offer them to organizations and communities.
The format will be as follows:
Ten to fifteen individuals commit to participate in the “foundations” retreat (one day) and at least four of six preparation retreats during a six month period. Each retreat will be one day in length and scheduled during the work week (this is to insure that facilitators are available to offer CIW when it is most often requested.)
Dates are:
September 2 and 3 Foundation Retreat and Module One
October 14 Module Two
November 11 Module Three
December 9 Module Four
January 13 Module Five
February 17 Module Six
Schedule Each Day: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
Location: Each module will be offered at a different location so that we can practice offering CIW in various work environments.
Cost: $500 for the entire program. Payment plan availalbe. The low cost is due to partial underwriting provided by the Amon G. Carter Foundation and the commitment of participants to work through CRNT.
