UTA Victim Assistance Training

Solution Focused Intensive Case Management Training Program for
Victim Assistance Providers

The University of Texas Arlington School of Social Work is offering a four-level training program for victim assistance providers in the North Central Texas region. This program is funded through Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Recovery grant monies and is being offered free to eligible participants. Participants would include individuals whose employment involves the provision of crisis counseling, information and referral, advocacy, and other case management services to adult victims of interpersonal violence (e.g., domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking).

To promote broad participation across the North Texas regions, sessions will be made available in Arlington, Collin County and Fort Worth. Trainers include nationally recognized UTA School of Social Work faculty, adjuncts and consultants with decades of expertise in solution-focused brief therapy, intensive case management, victim assistance, and interpersonal violence

WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE?

This training program combines elements of two evidence-supported interventions: solution focused brief therapy and intensive case management. These strengths-based and client-centered approaches have been adapted for the field of victim services and are appropriate for victim assistance providers employed in a variety of settings, such as police departments, district attorney offices, domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, and other community-based counseling and advocacy programs. These approaches promote resilience and empowerment.
