LeaderConnection for Nurse Leaders - Dallas
Who cares for the caregivers?
Nurse leaders give so much of themselves to everyone: staff, patients, family and friends. What this means, unfortunately, is nurse leaders are giving and giving and giving and not taking care of themselves. As a result, leaders experience intense levels of stress, fatigue and decreases in energy.
We forget why we were called to this work in the first place, first to patient care and later to supporting others in delivering care. Nurses need leaders who can help them balance tasks and evidence-based practice with being a healing presence as they provide care to body, mind and spirit. Patients need nurses who can make strong connections – one to one, mind to mind, and heart to heart. This means nurse leaders need opportunities to take care of themselves in order to renew and sustain the energy they need to stay passionate about the important work they do.
In support of nurses in our community during these challenging times, the North Texas Organization of Nurse Executives (N-TONE) and Courage & Renewal - North Texas (CRNT) is hosting LeaderConnection for Nurse Leaders. The LeaderConnection program begins with a one-day retreat, followed by a series of six two-hour sessions where participants experience:
-
Honest conversation about the challenges and opportunities related to the role
-
Mutual support in the task of leadership
-
Learning from one another and together
-
Development of strong, trustworthy relationships with peers;
-
Practice of skills that enable each person to lead from a place of authenticity, integrity, courage and impact.
